Vintage Rare Peter Schlumbohm for Chemex Glass Water Kettle with original stickers and Cork Balls Stopper

  

Water kettle manufactured by chemex corp. Designed in 1949 by german born dr. Peter schlumbohm chemist/inventor and a larger than life personality. Part of a larger collection of household products for chemex corp. In a 1951 brochure for the company it read.

"A chemist dreams in pyrex ". Innovative elegance is thematic is all schlumbohm inventions. A symbol of german modernism and functional bauhaus style. Made of one single piece of pyrex (borosilicate glass) and cork.

Part of the permanent collection of art&design housed in the museum of modern art. Some minor scratches consistent with age. Kettle: 10 1/8" x 8 1/2". The cork is original and has a lovely patina.
