This is an early vernon kilns tea carafe from the 1930s. It is their famous sphere shaped carafe, in a bright orange color.

It is approximately 8.25" tall, 8.25" wide when measured across the handle, and 6.25 in diameter. The original (bakelite) handle and lid are both present and in good shape. The handle is attached firmly, with no sign of breakage or coming loose.

The circular embossed mark on the bottom reads, "vernon kilns, california, made in usa". Vernon kilns and california form the circle, with made in usa in the center. This tea carafe in good pre-owned condition. There are no cracks, and no crazing.

There is a small chip on the interior rim of the lid, where it looks like a bubble in the clay burst. The handle and lid are both intact and in good condition, other than the chip. There is 1 very small spot on the edge of the handle part of the lid where the glaze looks a bit thinner. I believe this is a manufacturing issue, rather than actual damage, but i can't be sure.

There are a few minor marks on the finish that look as though something metal rubbed against the carafe, and left a small mark behind. I have done my best to document all of this in photos, so please give them a close look.
