Flawless Antique Imperial Amphora Austria Art Nouveau Wine Jug

  

From one of the greatest european ceramics producers of the early twentieth century, amphora, comes this gently astonishing art nouveau wine jug incised with an evergreen on one side and father christmas on the other. What makes this vessel most remarkable is the way it achieves a jeweled effect: the body of the jug has a matte finish in greens and gold, but all the embellishments--the stars and suns and beads and shields--sport a glossy finish; it's as if a crown had been repurposed into a carafe. At just under 6 tall and wide and bearing the multiple stamps of its maker on the base, the jug, whose manufacture dates to 1910, is in like-new condition--there isn't so much as a scuff.
