This fabulous, salt-glazed carafe or jug really has the wow factor it is quite a statement piece standing at approx 9 inches tall diameter across the base is approx. It was made by anthony morris in england in the 1970s.
He set up the green farm pottery in suffolk and only potted there for only about seven years before moving to new zealand where he has become a renowned artist and potter. Apparently, he received a couple of months' training from his then neighbour robin welch his work has an increasingly large following in the uk due to his distinctive style and personal stamps which always appear prominently on the side of his pots from that era. This is one of his larger pieces and as such is highly collectable. It was fired in a salt kiln and is unusual in that it has two different glazes applied to the outside as well as the customary orange-peel effect of the salt firing on the clay at the base of the pot. It is in very good condition with no chips or cracks.
