Probably french in origin, and dating from the latter part of the 19th century. What is particularly charming is the imperfection of the blown glass, with the little cups all being slightly different in size and shape.
There is some knocking and flaking to the part of the stopper that is inserted (normal wear) and some visually imperceptible roughness to the bases of a couple of the glasses. The gilt is rubbed in places. A simply lovely antique set. Measurements: carafe is 9" high and 3" wide, cups are 3.5 high.
This item is made of glass.
